Health:
Hooch is a resilient pup with a (nearly) clean bill of health.  He's  recently completed his heartworm treatment, courtesy of the rescue, and will soon undergo his final heartworm test to clear him completely, then neutering. With a shiny coat and a robust physique, Hooch is ready to embark on his journey towards a forever home.

Personality:
This charming fellow is a bundle of joy waiting to brighten someone's life. Hooch is the epitome of a  companion; craving snuggles and affection from his human and dog friends. Hooch's playful demeanor is infectious; whether  he's  tossing toys around or engaging in a game of tug of war,  he's  sure to keep you entertained. Despite his high energy bursts, Hooch also knows the value of downtime, readily curling up on the couch for a cozy snooze.  He is happy to follow the vibe of the house when  it’s  down / calm time versus play time. He will also follow the lead of other dogs, so if you have a more energetic pup,  he’s happy to keep up. But if you have a more chill dog, he will be curled up right next  to them for playtime. Disclaimer, he does need a dog that plays SOME or he will just annoy them trying to get them to play.

Training:
Hooch  is  crate trained and understands the cue "Go to bed." Additionally,   he' s  housebroken and will let you know when nature calls by heading to the door. While   he' s  got sitting down   pa t , his perpetual wiggles add a touch of excitement to the task. Hooch is a breeze at the vet and can be left alone without wreaking havoc, making him an ideal companion.

Hooch does enjoy stealing shoes from by the door, but just  tosses  them up in the air over and over, not to actually destroy / eat.

Background:
Hooch's journey  hasn't  been an easy one. Abandoned and left to fend for himself, he was discovered emaciated and tied to a tree. Thanks to the intervention of The Karens,  a Detroit based outreach group,  Hooch found his way to  Ho use  Of  Hounds Rescue,  wher e  he's  been thriving ever since.

We  don’t  know a ton about his history, but do believe at one point, someone loved him.  He’s   sociable  and  doesn’t seem to be fearful of raised hands or loud noises.  We’re guessing he lost his  original  owner due to financial hardships or health issues and  then  ended up in the wrong  hands. But that is just a guess!

Opportunity for Improvement:
Hooch is still working on his boundaries with both people and other dogs. He has so much love to give but  doesn’t understand the concept of personal space. Additionally, and probably one of his bigger “areas of opportunity” is desire to steal food.  It’s hard to blame him for being starved, but we’re working hard at keeping all four paws on the ground and off the counter/table.
