Johnny Rose was found as a stray and taken to a large municipal shelter. House of Hounds Rescue was able to rescue him from that noisy, scary shelter cage and get him settled into a cozy foster home.

Johnny Rose is a very quiet little old man.  He has not barked at all!

He’s got some arthritis, but he can climb a flight of stairs up and down.  He is getting perkier and more interactive every day.  He’s happy to poke around the fenced back yard; no leash walks for  him yet (maybe never). He does not need or want much exercise.   He’s taking carprofen for orthopedic issues and has started on cosequin treats for a joint supplement. JR is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, parasite-free and recently groomed.  He is having a much needed dental on 7/14 and will be able to be adopted after he recovers from that.  He will need periodic visits to a groomer, just like all other poodles.

Johnny Rose likes to be in the room with people, he hangs out on the sidelines (or nearby, looking for a handout)   He’s content to observe the goings on from his cozy bed. He accepts gentle petting, but doesn’t ask for it.   Johnny Rose’s favorite thing is CHEESE.  That’s what makes him tick!

JR is mostly housebroken, if he gets outside regularly. He’s had a few accidents in the home, but he sleeps all night in the kitchen without accidents.  He’s happy to have a poop and a big pee outside as soon as his foster momma lets him out in the morning.

Johnny Rose is seeking a home where he can relax with no expectations.  Right now, he is not a snuggly lap dog, but maybe he will blossom and turn into one.  If not, he’s still a sweet little quiet friend.  Johnny Rose LOVES the small resident dog in the foster home and follows her around like a puppy.  He is also excellent with the three cats here.

For his safety, Johnny will need a home with no small children. He did great with my 16 month old grandson, but I’d worry that young kids might be too unpredictable or rough  with him. He would not enjoy a boisterous setting.  He would  like a calm home that will love him for the quirky little old man that he is. If your interested in adopting this handsome fellow, please Fill out an adoption application. Johnnys adoption donation is $150.
